Steelstring Guitar

There are many types of steelstring guitars.

The main difference with classical guitar is that the strings are made of metal (instead of nylon) and the neck is narrower.
The advantage of a steelstring guitar that is has more volume than a classical guitar.
The disadvantage is that more power should be exerted on the strings.

Especially in the beginning that requires more perseverance.

Steel String guitars are widely used for strumming (stricking chords) and fingerpicking.

For classical music they are, because of the narrower neck, less suitable.

The best known steelstring guitars are: folk, concert, jumbu and western dreadnought guitars.

The main difference is in the shape and size of the resonance box.
